Big Sur Half Marathon – In Training…

In about 3 weeks I’ll be running the Big Sur Half Marathon with my dear friend Natalie. We are in training right now and things are going pretty well. I had a bit of a scare a couple of weeks ago when I accidentally ran 12.5 miles (I didn’t know how far I had gone until I got home and logged on to www.mapmyrun.com). I had chest pain for 3 days after the run, so finally I had to give in and visit the doctor to get an EKG. I was given the all clear, but was a bit scared to run again – especially after reading about the runners that died during last weekend’s Detroit Marathon. I’ve spent some time reading up on it this week and I think I will be fine if I hydrate a little better than I have been.

Anyway, on a happier note, my long play list for the run is coming together. I’ve got 3 current favorites: M.I.A – Paper Planes, Black Eyed Peas – Meet Me Halfway and surprisingly in at #1 Miley Cyrus (cringe) – The Climb.

I’m looking for suggestions, so if you have any please send them to me!

I’m also debating whether to run with my iphone (so I can take pictures along the way – I am fully aware of how ridiculous that sounds, but its soooo beautiful) or if I should just take my shuffle…it’s a tough one!

Accidentally ran 13 miles?! Wish I had those type of accidents.; ) Great job!

I do have a handful of power songs when I am at the gym, I’ll share below. They are my power songs because I can pace my breathing by singing along, mainly I think of dancing when I hear them. May not be everyone’s style of music but they are fun.

Ting Tings – That’s not my name.
    The Veronica’s – Untouched.
    Shakira – She Wolf.
    Phoenix – 1901 & Girlfriend.
Carolina Liar – Show me what I’m looking for.
Matt Nathanson – Come on get higher.

    Good LUCK!!

I’m with Priscilla! I can’t believe you “accidentally” ran 12.5 miles! You are a superstar.

Best wishes with the 1/2 marathon, by the way. Will this be your first one?
